Cafe Posts

Since its initial product release the Cafe Post has undergone major modifications. Althought the initial design has remained very similar, the modifications have been on going:

Below is detailed the modification plan since the initial design release.

Date: Feature/Event Modification
2004 - March

Initial Introduction of the Original, Classico and Advance Cafe Post.
All sub-components material was manufactured in Anodised Aluminium. The base weight on first release was 8.5 Kgs giving a total weights of the post of 11.00 Kgs.

As we were one of the only companies offering an off the shelf solution for cafe barriers, demand was very high. The cafe barriers were being sold faster than we could make them. As it was in it's infancy, we still felt we could improve the barriers further.
2004 - June Various Modifications at issue 2 of the specification release.

Although the edges were smooth, a larger radius was included on all edges of the cafe post top ring and bottom ring for safety purposes

The weight was increased to a combined weight of 13.50 Kgs. This was mainly due to clients asking for wider banners and making the post susceptible to movement in high winds. On some occassions the systems actually fell over.

The bottom ring was changed to a floating design to allow the banner to bellow in high winds. Thus allowing a higher wind movement resistance.

The cast Iron weight was epoxy coated as opposed to wet painted and cast with the Xtracs "Made in the UK" logo.

The base cover changed from a spun component to pressed component. This allowed greater dimensional control and capability as well as providing smoother edges.

The tube length was increased to 900mm from 780mm. A taller posts, it was felt, would be benefitial around cafes and restaurants and provide better screening area.

2008 - May Issue 3 release of the Cafe Posts were amended for aesthetic reasons as well as health and safety.

The Cafe posts were amended to included a semi-polished finish as opposed to a mill finish. The mill finish would some times show slight inclusions of the material as well as small scratches.

Anodising method changed from clear natural anodising to a hard marine anodising. The ensured conformance to international corrosion resistance standard ASTM B117.

Base weight was increased to a combined weight of 18 Kgs. Again to satisfy customer requests for even wider banners.

Internal tie bar was changed from mild steel, plated to stainless steel. Again to ensure conformance to international standards.

All nuts and washers were amended to stainless steel. see above.

Branding removed - At this time we were receiving enquiries for distributors and resellers. Who requested that we sent the posts out unbranded.

Classico - Post. This was withdrawn from the product range. As the head was manufactured from spun aluminium it was incredibly thin. On a visit to a large shopping centre in the midlands, one of our employees noticed that the sphere shaped head could be dented easily. This resulted in its withdrawl from the range.

2010 - May Issue 4 - DDA Awareness..

The Cafe posts base weight shapes were changed from a flat disc shaped to a tapered shape. Thus allowing wheel chair users easier access to premises.

The Base Cover was also changed for this reason. A new press tool and casting was designed and commisioned.

Floor Socketed post introduced to the range.

Surface mounted posts introduced to the range.

Heavy Weight Base weight in granite introduced. At 25.00 Kgs for extremely high wind areas.

2013 - April Issue 5 release of the Cafe Posts were amended for aesthetic reasons, further corrosion resistance as well as health and safety benefits.

The Cafe posts were amended to included a mirror polished finish as well as a semi-polished finish. This was mainly to give clients more varitey within the range.

Marine Grade anodising changed to Stainless Steel. This further ensured conformance to international corrosion resistance standard ASTM B117.

Base weight was increased to a combined weight of 18 Kgs. Again to satisfy customer requests for even wider banners.

All nuts and washers were amended to marine grade stainless steel. see above.

Classico - Post. This was re introduced in the range with a solid turned head.

Clear Post - Designed and included in the range.

Natural Post - Designed and included in the range.

Heavy Weight Base weight in Cast Iron introduced. At 25.00 Kgs for extremely high wind areas. A stainless steel cover was also commisioned for the lager heavy weight cast iron base.
